Shape matching under rigid motion

چکیده
We present improved algorithms to match two polygonal shapes P and Q to approximate their maximum overlap. Let n be their total number of vertices. Our first algorithm finds a translation that approximately maximizes the overlap area of P and Q under translation in Õ(n2ε−3) time. The error is additive and it is at most ε · min{area(P ), area(Q)} with probability 1 − n−O(1). We also obtain an algorithm that approximately maximizes the overlap of P and Q under rigid motion in Õ(n3ε−4) time. The same error bound holds with probability 1 − n−O(1). We also show how to improve the running time to Õ(n + ε−3) for the translation case when one of the polygons is convex. ∗Research supported by the Research Grant Council, Hong Kong, China (project no. 611711). †Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong. Efficient Shape Matching using Vector Extrapolation
We propose the adoption of a vector extrapolation technique to accelerate convergence of correspondence problems under the quadratic assignment formulation for attributed graph matching (QAP). In order to capture a broad range of matching scenarios, we provide a class of relaxations of the QAP under elastic net constraints. This allows us to regulate the sparsity/complexity trade-off which is i...
متن کاملA Batch Algorithm for Implicit Non-rigid Shape and Motion Recovery
The recovery of 3D shape and camera motion for non-rigid scenes from single-camera video footage is a very important problem in computer vision. The low-rank shape model consists in regarding the deformations as linear combinations of basis shapes. Most algorithms for reconstructing the parameters of this model along with camera motion are based on three main steps. Given point tracks and the r...
متن کاملCoupled , Multi - resolution Stereo and Motion
We propose a novel approach for fusing multi-resolution stereo and motion (both rigid and non-rigid) analysis in order to complement each other's performance. A hierarchical framework is presented to couple motion correspondences and stereo correspondences in order to generate accurate disparity map and motion parameters. One scenario for such system is the analysis of time-varying multi-spectr...

Recovering articulated shape and motion, especially human body motion, from video is a challenging problem with a wide range of applications in medical study, sport analysis and animation, etc. Previous work on articulated motion recovery generally requires prio...
متن کاملMatching 3D Lung Surfaces with the Shape Context Approach.1)
Studying the complex thorax breathing motion is an important research topic for medical (e.g. fusion of function and anatomy, radiotherapy planning) and engineering (reduction of motion artifacts) questions. In this paper we present first results on investigating the 4D motion of segmented lung surfaces from CT scans at several different breathing states. For this registration task we extend th...
متن کاملDistribution of lateral active earth pressure on a rigid retaining wall under various motion modes
The design of retaining walls depends on the magnitude of active pressure exerted from the backfill. Therefore, estimating the scale of this pressure is a fundamental factor in the design. In this study, to assess the active earth pressure, a rigid retaining wall was built capable of translating and/or rotating with adjustable speed. Further, several physical tests were conducte...
